The Joint Special Operations Command, is a command of United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) responsible for studying the technical and requirements of special operations to ensure interoperability and Standardize equipment, plan and conduct special operations training and drills, and develop Joint Special Operations Tactics. It was established in 1980 on the recommendation of Colonel Charlie Beckwith, following the failure of Operation Eagle Claw. Its bases are established at Pope Army Air Field and at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, United States. JSOC is credited with coordinating Operation Geronimo that ended with the death of Osama bin Laden ‘s in 2011 near Islamabad, Pakistan.
