The Atchisson Assault Shotgun  is a self-loading shotgun , developed in 1972 by Maxwell Atchisson. On their base, a series of other self-loading shotguns were developed, such as the Daewoo USAS-12 . The Atchisson Assault Shotgun can shoot semi-automatic or fully automatic 360 rounds per minute with an effective range of approx. 100 m. To reduce the recoil and weft sequence, Atchisson prolonged the return of the shutter to a maximum, much further than that required to reload the next cartridge.

In 1987, Atchisson sold the rights to Jerry Baber from Military Police Systems Inc., Baber’s company developed the weapon further. In a period of 18 years he took 188 changes to the weapon and in 2004 produced the modified version 10 pieces under the name Auto Assault-12 (AA-12). These weapons were available to the United States Marine Corps for testing.
