Abandoned And Declassified Black Projects

(Scroll down for the video)

Black Project is a colloquial term for a strictly secret project. This concept was shaped by secret armor projects of the US Air Force. The term is still closely associated today with the secret armor- forgers Phantomworks (Boeing) and Skunkworks (Lockheed Martin). Despite the high secrecy, projects or individual details are sometimes known by chance or error in the secrecy. Many of the projects exist only as concept studies or do not go beyond the prototype stage.

The term is used for projects that are classified as either strictly secret by government agencies or by companies. Although the term Black Project is still to be found mainly in the American military aviation, this concept is still spreading to other states, companies and industries. The term skunkWorks has also become a general term for projects carried out by companies without the knowledge of the company management.
